Painting Update

OK, things are moving slowly.  I got sidetracked from painting for a week while doing a complete clean and organize on the basement terrain workshop.  I’m getting ready for some intense terrain building for TempleCon2011 starting in mid-August.  The clean-out isn’t complete yet, but there’s a lot more work space and organization already.

However, I was able to make some progress on my Soul Hunters:

The poor things are just skin and bones. Don't worry, we'll put metal and necrotite on them soon.

Of course, after recording the Guts n’ Gears podcast on Cryx lists this past weekend, I’ve got the itch to paint Terminus and get him on the table.  Must stay focused….

Been painting a lot lately

Hello to both the regular readers of this page.  If you’re here for the events updates, skip on to the calendar, we’ve got a bunch coming up.  For those of you who are curious, I’ve actually been able to put in a lot of painting time on my Cryx lately.   In the past month I’ve painted 2 Warwitch Sirens, 2 Necrosurgeons with attendant Stitch Thralls, 6 Mechanithralls, and the Cankerworm.  Here’s a quick shot of my painting desk as it stands today:

Next up - Terminus and some friends

As you can see, I’ve got a new project ready to go.  It’s about time I got some paint on the big guy.  My goal is to have these four done by the middle of July.  I’ll try to keep posting updates of progress here to keep myself motivated.

New England Team Tournament – a tale of pain and sweat

File this one under “how I learned what not to do with epic Asphyxious”.

I actually got a chance to play in the NETT this time so I took two new warcasters for a ride to see what they could do.  The first was epic Asphyxious and the second was Venethrax.  I ended up just using Asphyxious for all three of my games because I really wanted to learn by trial as I’d never played with him before and only played against him once.  Here’s what was in my 35-point army:

Asphyxious
Slayer (have to use those warjack points somewhere)
Withershadow combine
Bane Lord Tartarus
Darragh Wrathe
3 Soul Hunters
6 Bane Knights
10 Bane Thralls
Warwitch Siren

Matt Wilson teases us with a shot of the new WM video game

That’s right, straight from his Twitter/Facebook feed we have this picture from behind the scenes at game development.  If that’s the quality of the graphics throughout the game, I’m starting to look forward to this.

Team Tournament a Success

This past weekend saw the successful completion of yet another New England Team Tournament – 6th annual I believe.  Thanks to Dan and Craig for running a great event.  I actually got a chance to play in this one and will amaze you all with my tales of utter fail on the tabletop in a future post.  For now, the important bits are:

Thanks to the insane heat we collectively donated close to $200 to Tabs for Tots through water, soda, and food purchases at the venue (thanks to the Masonic lodge of Naugatuck, CT for hosting)

Team New Jersey SOBs took the trophy home once again – will no team of champions step forth to defend the honor of the New England states and win back our trophy?

And the dinner after the event at Chili’s was great fun too.

Back soon with picture links and battle reports….
