Missing Gamer!!!!

Matt

Have you seen this gamer?

We need the help of the New England gaming community to help us find a lost Press Ganger.  In the words of his brother:

Many of you know Invader Larb (Matthew Randy) very well…he has been a very active participant on this and other gaming forums. I am his brother. He has gone missing. He was last seen Wednesday, May 19th at 0750 EST leaving his home in Jericho, Vermont, driving a gold 2002 Acura RL. His cell phone is off. The police have been notified and a special investigator has been hired by the family to help locate him.

Neither Casey (his wife) or I know where he has gone or why, and this is very unusual behavior for Matt.  We do not know if he was involved in an accident, or if something else is going on. Frankly, we are very concerned for his safety.

Please contact me via email at michael(dot)randy(at)vtmednet.org if you hear anything. Thank you very much for your help.

If anyone has seen Matt please contact his brother directly at the e-mail above.  I’ll leave this notice up until Matt is found.

Sad Update:  Invader Larb found

I’m sorry to report that, just a short while ago, Matthew Randy (known to many in WARMACHINE circles as PG_Invader Larb) was found in a hotel room where it appears that he took his own life.

I only met Matt in person briefly, but I and many others knew him well online and the world is truly a darker place for his loss.  I know his family must be going through a lot right now and all I can offer are my heartfelt condolences and thoughts of support.  I will update this post if more information becomes available about how the community can help support his family in this time of grief.  Until then, here is the current update from his brother:

My brother Matt (known to many of you as Invader Larb) was found this morning after being missing since Wednesday morning. He had checked himself into a hotel, and at some point between Wednesday and this morning, he took his own life.

At this point, the local police are still conducting their investigation. They were able to tell me there was no sign of trauma or that his death was in any way traumatic. As I know more, I will share it with all of you.

The outpouring of support from this community has been tremendous since I first asked for help in finding him. I wish I could have called each of you to deliver this news in person, so please forgive the…disconnect, for lack of a better word. I know he meant a great deal to many of you just as all of you meant a great deal to him. There are still a great many questions we have.  Your support is greatly appreciated by myself, his wife Casey, their four “kids” (3 cats and Viktor, their dog) and his family.

The first summer road trip

About time I posted an update here.  This weekend was my first (of hopefully several/many) gaming road trips.  This time, I journeyed to East Greenbush, NY to help celebrate the grand opening of a new game store – Grimfoe Games.  I ran a Steamroller tournament with generous prize support provided by the store owner, including the really nice PP trophies.  Here’s a quick photo of the group who came out to play:

I’ve uploaded some more photos for your viewing pleasure.

New England Team Tournament

The big day is fast approaching.  Whose team will be the next to be added to the New England Team Trophy?

If you want it to be your name on there, make sure to put together a team of three to represent your local store or game club and register for the New England Team Tournament.  You can register by clicking on that nice link at the top of this page or just clicking here. The Tournament’s on June 5th, so mark your calendars and get ready.

But what if you don’t have a team or your store already has a team going?  Easy, come play anyway.  We’ve got more than just the team trophy on the line.  There are prizes for top individual players as well including a hardcover Prime MK2 signed by just about everybody at the PP offices.  Best of all, because of the team aspect, the pairing system will keep you from getting matched up with guys you see every weekend for casual play so you’ll get plenty of new opponents.

New Features!

The site is going through a lot of changes at the moment.  The two big ones have to do with time and money.

First, time.  I’ve added a lot of upcoming events to the calendar, but I’ve also installed a great new registration feature.  This thing lets you pre-register, pre-pay, and submit your army lists in advance of big events.  Since it’s hooked up to my PayPal account, I’m going to restrict it to events that I’m closely involved with for the time being.  This should save a lot of time on event day as I can check army lists in advance and it allows players to make sure they’ve got a space reserved.  Check it out and give it a try by pre-registering for the New England Team Tournament or either of the Steamroller practice events that are coming up.

The link is at the top of the page or you can click here to Register for Events

Second, money.  It makes the world go round.  Or, in this case, helps pay for site hosting.  I’ve added a donate button to the front page.  If you’ve got a few extra bucks you want to send our way to support a good gaming cause, please feel free.  Here’s what you’re getting for your donation in the order in which it will be applied:

  1. Expenses to put on all the great events at TempleCon each year.  This includes things like renting a van to get all the terrain and scenario boards there as well as printing paperwork and signs and admin stuff.  We’re building a war chest to help make things bigger, better, and smoother for a better player experience each year.
  2. Supplies for new terrain projects to build amazing theme tables for TempleCon and maybe the lucky local game store our tournament.
  3. Hosting costs to keep this calendar site up
  4. Prize support for big tournaments and events

So, if you feel like helping, click the button.
